Roundup: Marion Local defeats Coldwater on late field goal

MARIA STEIN — Kevin Partington connected on a 26-yard field goal as time expired to give Marion Local at 24-21 football victory Friday night against Coldwater.

The victory assures the No. 1 ranked Division VII Flyers (9-0) at least a share of the Midwest Athletic Conference championship. The Cavaliers, ranked No. 3 in D-VI, fell to 7-2 on the season and 5-2 in the MAC.

Marion Local’s Peyton Otte rushed 23 times for 159 yards and a pair of TDs. Teammate Dylan Fleck also had a touchdown run.

Coldwater’s Reece Dellinger completed 23 of 40 pass attempts for 259 yards and had two TD throws to Jesse Meyer and another to Tanner Muhlenkamp. The Cavs’ Tyler Schwieterman had seven catches for 85 yards.

WAPAKONETA — Jace Mullen rushed 16 times for 134 yards and four touchdowns. Jace Knous and Connor Meckstroth each had a TD runs also for the Redskins (8-1, 7-1 Western Buckeye League).

Nick Adams completed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Nick Newell for Celina (1-8, 1-7 WBL).

OTTAWA — The Titans held the Bulldogs to 118 total yards. Landen Jordan completed nine of 15 pass attempts for 176 and had TD throws to Colin White, who had five catches for 83 yards, and Cy Rump. Jordan and Ian Fenbert, who had 11 carries for 85 yards, each had a touchdown run as O-G improved to 6-3 on the season and 6-2 in the WBL.

FORT RECOVERY — Nolan Schwinnen completed 12 of 20 pass attempts for 201 yards and had a pair of touchdown throws to Gavin Fittro and another to JJ Bonifas. Fittro finished with five receptions for 72 yards as DSJ improved to 3-6 overall and 3-4 in the MAC.

Riley Hiser rushed 28 times for 113 yards and a TD and Cale Rammel had a touchdown pass to Troy Homan and rushed for a pair of touchdowns for Fort Recovery (3-6, 1-6 MAC).

Delphos Jefferson 37

BLUFFTON — Nate Schaadt rushed 39 times for 287 yards and three touchdowns and connected on a TD pass to Hayden Dearth for the host Pirates (5-4, 2-4 Northwest Conference). Landon Shutler had 14 carries for 127 yards and a TD also for Bluffton.

Colin Bailey completed 17 of 25 pass attempts for 164 yards with touchdown throws to Andrew Miller, Tanner Voorhees and Cole Hoersten for Jefferson (3-6, 1-5 NWC). Bailey also rushed 20 times for 126 yards and a pair of TDs.

Upper Scioto Valley 46,

MARION — USV (8-1) clinched the Northwest Central Conference championship with a 6-0 mark. Jackson Rohrs had 223 yards rushing and three TDs on 21 carries and Connor Sanders had 15 carries for 161 yards and three TDs for Upper Scioto Valley.

Shawnee 32, Kenton 0

KENTON — Tommy Spyker had 94 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries, Tyler Windau had a TD pass to Dominic Lynch and ran for another touchdown and Tyler Kimmit made a 29-yard field goal as the Indians moved to 5-4 overall and 4-4 in the WBL.

New Bremen 51, Parkway 19

ROCKFORD — David Homan completed eight of 14 pass attempts for 187 yards, had TD throws to Nick Alig and Ben Sailer and rushed for 81 yards and two TDs on 81 carries as New Bremen improved to 6-3 on the season and 4-3 in the MAC. Hunter Schaefer rushed 11 times for 89 yards and a TD, Keaton Puthoff and Dylan Bambauer each had a touchdown run and Owen Gabel converted a 22-yard field also for the Cardinals.

Fletcher Smith completed 19 of 28 pass attempts for 186 yards and had a pair of TD throws to Aiden Anderson and Eddie Nichols had a TD run for Parkway (1-8, 1-6 MAC).

Pandora-Gilboa 41, Riverdale 0

MT. BLANCHARD — Dillan Krohn completed 17 of 26 pass attempts for 288 yards, had two TD throws to Aidan Morris, who had seven catches for 129 yards, and another to Noah Burkholder and had 148 yards rushing and a pair of TDs on 22 carries for P-G (5-4, 5-2 Blanchard Valley Conference). Colin Harris had five catches for 92 yards and Andrew Miller had a TD run also for the Rockets.

Columbus Grove 45, Spencerville 7

COLUMBUS GROVE — Colin Metzger had 67 yards and four touchdowns on 12 carries, Brenton Renner had TD passes to Jacksen Schroeder and Lawson Maag and Rece Verhoff connected on a 52-yard field goal for CG (9-0, 6-0 NWC).

Gunner Grigsby had 99 yards and a TD on 22 carries for Spencerville (4-5, 3-3 NWC).

Crestview 38, Ada 7

CONVOY — Carson Hunter completed 11 of 15 pass attempts for 265 yards, threw two TD passes to Hunter Rothgeb, who had six catches for 133 yards, and another to Rontae Jackson. Isaac Kline and Ayden Lichtensteiger each had a TD run also for the Knights (6-3, 2-3 NWC). Grant Preston scored on a 55-yard kickoff return for Ada (1-8, 0-6 NWC).

Van Wert 41, Elida 7

ELIDA — Aidan Pratt completed 23 of 29 passes for 263 yards and had TD throws to Conner Pratt, who had five catches for 99 yards, Garett Gunter, who had six receptions for 94 yards, and Brylen Parker. Pratt also had 94 yards on 11 carries and a TD and returned an interception for a score and teammate Nate Jackson had a touchdown run as Van Wert moved to 8-1 overall and 7-1 in the WBL.

Jalen Jones had a TD for Elida (4-5, 3-5 WBL).

Versailles 27, St. Henry 7

ST. HENRY — Owen Lefeld had a TD for St. Henry (6-3, 5-2 MAC).

Hardin Northern 33, Ridgemont 6

RIDGEWAY — Colby Curtis rushed 19 times for 199 yards and four touchdowns and Nevin Robson had a TD run for Hardin Northern (6-3, 4-2 NWCC). Landon Newland, who caught a TD pass from Connor Manns, had five receptions for 117 yards for Ridgemont (1-7, 0-4 NWCC).

UNOH 3, Cornerstone 1

LIMA — When the dust settled in The Garage, it was the defending regular season and conference tournament champion Cornerstone (13-12, 7-3) that found itself on the losing end of a 3-1 match. The Racers (6-18, 1-10) started strong and finished the same winning 25-23, 25-23, 11-25, 25-22.

It was Nevaeh Shugart leading the pack with 16 points off 15 kills and a solo block. Logan Thomas continued her consistant play adding nine kills while Mailys Silvestre recorded 33 assists. Crestview graduate Bailey Gregory and Aubree Ricketts each finished with three service aces in the match.

As the Libero, Ricketts led UNOH defensively with 24 digs. Taylor Reust was big in front of the net racking up three solo blocks and two block assists.

“It was such a great team win,” head coach Josh Kreiner said. “It took a total team effort to beat one of the top teams in our league, but they came together and made it happen. Every able person who could score tonight did and that’s what it takes to play at the top.”

The Racers stay home to play a doubleheader against Aquinas today. The first match will be at 11 a.m. with the second match to follow at 3 p.m.
