Football
Crestview is proud to announce that James Lautzenheiser has been hired to be Crestview High Schools next high school football coach. James is a 2000 graduate of Crestview and received his Political Science degree from Baldwin-Wallace University in 2004 and Integrated Social Studies degree from Bowling Green State University in 2009.
James was an assistant coach at Crestview for the past 10 years, where he has served as the offensive line coach, and assistant defensive line Coach. Lautzenheiser will be Crestview’s fifth head coach since restarting the program in 1996.
Lautzenheiser and his wife Meghan, along with their children Harper and Lincoln reside in Convoy.
Crestview is proud to announce that Randy Grandstaff as the next Crestview High School cross country Coach. Grandstaff has served as an assistant coach for the past eight seasons. Grandstaff is a graduate of Van Wert High School and is currently employed at Key Fasteners in Berne, Indiana. He and his wife Deanna currently reside in rural Convoy.
Boys Basketball
Shawnee remains No. 1
Shawnee remained at the top of Division II and Lima Senior made its first appearance in the Ohio High School boys basketball Associated Press poll released Monday.
Shawnee, after wins over Wapakoneta and Delphos St. John’s this past weekend, stayed unbeaten at 12-0. Lima Senior coming off a big win over Findlay came in at No. 14.
Ottawa-Glandorf slipped one spot to No. 4 in the Division III rankings.
In Division IV, Kalida stayed at No. 2 and Columbus Grove remained at No. 5. The two teams square off Saturday. Ottoville moved up two spots to No. 6 and Lincolnview came in at No. 12.
Girls Basketball
Jackson Center 61, Perry 47
JACKSON CENTER — Perry’s Lily Floyd scored 17 points. For Jackson Center, Ava Winner scored 12 points and Sarah Clark and Katie Clark each scored 11 points.
Kalida game cancelled
The Kalida vs. Delphos St. John’s JV/V girls basketball game Tuesday has been canceled due to COVID protocols at DSJ. No reschedule date has been announced.
Lima Senior games to be streamed
There will be no general public tickets available for Lima Senior’s upcoming boys basketball home games against Lima Central Catholic and Ottawa-Glandorf Friday and Saturday.

Lima Senior takes on Lima Central Catholic Friday. JV starts at 6 p.m., Varsity at 7:30 p.m.
The games with Ottawa-Glandorf is set for Saturday. Freshman tip at 4:30 p.m., JV at 6 p.m. and Varsity at 7:30 p.m.

OTTAWA — Shawnee’s Soloman Smith had the high series in round one with a 483. Other Indian series were Myles Aldrich 437, Cruz Hunley 376 and Isaiah Johns 291. Ryan Wining had a single game of 170. For the Titans, Jake Fawcett led the way with a 409. Other team scores were Sean Kelley 291, Bryant Utrup 254, Justin Yaeger 353. Single game scores were Josh Wells 149 and Brayden Maas 136. Shawnee won round two 862-841.
O-G falls to 6-3 and 3-3 in the Western Buckeye League.

OTTAWA — Shawnee’s Olivia Miller had the high series with a 354. Other Indian scores were Emma Holden 350, Lynden Bassitt 297 and Samantha Zeltner 249. Makenna Gilboer had a single game of 108. For Ottawa-Glandorf, Delanie Leep had the high series with a 266. Other Titan scores were Jayden Johns 264, Katie Fawcett 260 and Katie Fawcett 260. Single games were Paige Compton 135 an d Beckeh Compton 117. Shawnee won round two, 666-597.

Simpson taken in G-League
OKLAHOMA CITY — Xavier Simpson, the Lima Senior and Michigan standout, was selected seventh overall by the Oklahoma City Blue in the G-League Monday.
Simpson was released by the Los Angeles Lakers after signing a 10-day contract in the exhibition season.

UNOH hires interim women’s head basketball coach
The University of Northwestern Ohio is announcing the promotion of assistant coach Jill Segura to interim head coach of the Women’s Basketball team after the resignation of John McGinty. Segura began her career with the Racers in June, 2019.
McGinty resigned on January 11, 2021 after a year and a half with the university for another coaching opportunity. “I want to thank Chris Adams, President Jarvis, and the rest of the UNOH athletic department for welcoming me into the community while giving me an opportunity of a lifetime” wrote McGinty in his resignation letter.
Director of Athletics, Chris Adams, effective immediately, promoted Coach Segura to interim head coach due to her familiarity with the team and its goals for this season. “Coach Segura knows the ins and outs of this team and it’s players and will be able to seamlessly transition into the head coaching position as we continue in our season after beginning a 2-0 start early to the 2020-2021 campaign” said Adams. Max Ethridge, a former Graduate Assistant for the team, will be stepping up his role to interim assistant coach.

WBGU-PBS to Air BGSU Hockey Game Live
BOWLING GREEN, OH – WBGU-PBS will air two live broadcasts of Bowling Green State University hockey as the Falcons take on the Northern Michigan Wildcats this weekend. The games will air at 7 p.m., Friday, January 15 and Saturday, January 16. Viewers should check their television listing for specific channel number.
The game is the first set of two live hockey broadcasts the station will be airing this season. The second is planned for the weekend of February 12 & 13 when the Falcons meet the Lake Superior State Lakers.
