Roundup: Leipsic clinches Putnam County League in volleyball

Leipsic won its ninth Putnam County League volleyball championship in the last 10 years with a 5-25, 25-18, 25-19, 12-25, 15-8 victory Tuesday night against Miller City.

The Vikings, who have won 17 straight, close out PCL play 6-0 and are 18-2 overall.

Liz Scheckelhoff had 13 kills and four blocks, Peyton Heitmeyer had 24 digs and 13 kills, Ava Henry had five aces and Serenity Siefer had 35 assists for Leipsic.

Abi Lammers had 34 kills and 33 digs, Abi Teders had three aces and Adrienne Kuhlman had 48 assists and 27 digs for Miller City, which finished 5-1 in the PCL and is 16-3 overall.

Elida 3, Kenton 0

The Bulldogs won 25-12, 25-17, 25-5.

Lauren Engle had five aces; Kylie Vorhees had 14 kills, Cadence Miller had 35 assists and McKenzie Miller had 15 digs. for Elida.

Marion Local 3, Parkway 0

The Flyers won 25-23, 25-23, 25-20.

Kinsey Thobe had 10 kills and three blocks, Alana Pohlman had 11 kills and four aces, Lydia Griesdorn had 12 digs and Heidi Rethman had 32 assists for Marion Local.

LCC 3, Bluffton 2

The Thunderbirds won 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-8.

Kennedy Parker had 23 digs and 12 kills, Zoey Foster had 30 assists and four aces and Jacqueline Cutlip had 20 digs for LCC.

Kylie Stackhouse had 29 kills; Taylor Schwab had 21 digs; Skyler Scoles had 43 assists and Kylie Monday had 19 digs for Bluffton.

The Rangers won 25-22, 26-24, 25-22.

Carsyn Henschen had 15 kills and Ellie Gabel had 18 digs and 27 assists for New Knoxville.

The Mustangs won 25-11, 24-26, 25-22, 27-25.

Laci McCoy had 20 kills, Cali Gregory had 41 assists and Bailey Greogry had 28 digs for Crestview.

Hope Wendel had 18 assists, Marissa Goerke had 11 digs and Paige Fortkamp had 13 kills for Fort Recovery.

Cecelia Worsham had 16 kills, Lindsey Stump had 20 digs and six aces, Jessica Holloway had 19 digs and Kaylee Linhart had 35 assists for Temple Christian.

The Lancers won 25-14, 25-22, 25-13.

Megan Light had eight kills, Miranda Wills had 14 digs and Kirsten Poling had 14 assists for Temple Christian.

Kellen Schlagbaum had two goals and Kaiden Trentman, Brice Schroeder, Kyle Manns, Will Miller and Trey Landwehr had one tally each as the Big Green clinched the Putnam County League championship at 3-0-1. Ottoville is now 14-0-1 overall.

Derei Crumrine had two goals, Blaize Heuerman had a single tally and Dylan Birkemeier made three saves in earning the shutout in goal.

Jackson Center 6,

Temple Christian 0

Trevor Huber had two goals and Grant Elchert, Trevor Sosby, Bryce Carter and Cameron Ross had one tally each. Teammate Candon Calhoun made four saves in earning the shutout in goal. Cody Motter made 10 saves for Temple Christian.

Riverdale 4, St. Marys 0

St. Marys had five shots on goal.

Cory-Rawson’s Matthew White and Zac Stoodt received first team honors. Riverdale’s Jackson Clark and Dylan Beck were named player of the year and coach of the year respectively.

Kp Miller had three goals and Nick Anderson had a pair of tallies.

Mia Rolfes had three goals and Taylor Klingshirn and Chloe Johnsman had two each. Kennedy Henry and Carly Hathaway combined for the shutout in goal.

Lily Haselman had two goals and Kelsea Erford had a single tally for O-G. Erika Lisi and Hannah Wood each had a goal for Wapak.

Cory-Rawson’s Zoe Chisholm and Lanie Kempf and Ada’s Brenna Hissong were named to the first team. Liberty-Benton’s Alexis Rickenbacher and Mark Pagano were named player of the year and coach of the year respectively.

BOWLING GREEN — No area teams or individuals advanced to state.

Wapakoneta finished eighth with a 422 team total behind qualifiers Ashland (332) and Notre Dame Academy (342) at par 72 Stone Ridge Golf Club. Jackie Oen (95), Taylor West (100), Alyssa Zwiebel (109) and Addie Newman (118) contributed to the team score. Shawnee’s Haylee Wurm and Madilyn Paphanchith each shot 100. Perrysburg’s Sydney Deal was medalist with a 72. Lexington’s Amanda Ruminski will also be heading to state, winning a playoff against Napoleon’s Riley Kleck, after each shot 75.
