Each week, The Lima News publishes a calendar of events of local interest. Events should be submitted by noon Wednesday of each week to The Lima News.

ARCHERY

Allen County: The Allen County Archers are holding traditional 3-D shoots on the third Saturday of the month all year long. They are open to all archery equipment.

Columbus Grove: The Columbus Grove Archery Club is holding its traditional shoots at 7:30 Thursday evenings through April.

BASEBALL

Lima: Registration is underway for bus trips to the Washington Nationals against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, June 27. The fee is $75 and includes game ticket, round trip transportation, a sandwich and snacks. Ticket must be paid by May 27. A bus trip is also scheduled for the New York Yankees against the Cleveland Indians on Aug. 29. The fee is $75 and the ticket must be paid by July 29. Bath Township: Bath baseball is having its annual “Best of the Northwest” youth tournament June 5-7. This is a school team tournament (all players must be from the same school district) 12 teams excepted for each division (first 12 teams paid in each division). There will be a 12U, 10U and 8U coach pitch division. Cost for the 12U & 10U division will be $250 with a three game guarantee. Cost for the 8U coach pitch division will be $200 with a three game guarantee. BASKETBALL

Van Wert: NWOHIO Basketball Club will be having try outs! Northwest Ohio Basketball Club is an AAU Summer Traveling Basketball team that travels to various NCAA sanctioned tournaments. The club has had over 20 years of success in winning tournaments. Delphos: The Jefferson boys’ basketball and baseball staffs, have scheduled the 15th annual Wildcat third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade tournament to be held March 13 to 15 (Friday through Sunday) at Delphos Jefferson Schools. This is for boys teams. There will be separate divisions for each grade level. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. Entry fee for this event is $125. New Knoxville: A spring basketball league for boys currently in the seventh and eighth grades is scheduled March 22, March 24, March 26, March 27, March 31, April 3 and April 5 at New Knoxville High School.

Bath: The 17th annual Bath Girl’s fifth and sixth 6th grade basketball tournament is March 7-8. Entry fee is $150 per team with Saturday pool play and single elimination tournament on Sunday. EQUESTRIAN

Cridersville: The Equestrian Therapy Program is holding a Volunteer Orientation and Training Session from 9 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at Fassett Farm: 22532 Grubb/Bowsher Road, Cridersville, Ohio 45806. The Equestrian Therapy Program is also offering a three half-day camp at Fassett Farm for those ages 8-12. This camp will focus on learning the skills and knowledge to be a responsible horseman. Campers will learn about care, feeding, grooming, and basic riding skills. In addition to these skills, participants will also learn teamwork, problem-solving skills, and how to treat animals and others with respect. A non-refundable $100 deposit is required at the time of registration. Maximum number of registrations is 20. Total camp fee is $250. Call 419-657-2700 to register. GOLF

LIMA: The Civic Center Foundation’s first indoor golf outing will be held at the Swing Rite Golf Center beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29. The cost is $280 for a team of four and all entry costs can be paid the day of the event. Registration is 30 minutes before participants’ time block. HORSESHOES

Lima: The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C St., have openings in leagues and doubles. Open doubles begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays. Corn hole leagues are forming. KARATE

Lima: The Lima Family YMCA is holding a karate program from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The fee is $30 for members and $60 for nonmembers.

PICKLEBALL

Lima: Pickleball is played at Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima: The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for nonmembers or $20 per month for nonmembers (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net.

Bluffton: The Bluffton Family Recreation will be offering pickleball from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays and from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursdays.

RUN/WALK

Columbus Grove: The 42nd annual BBO road race will be held in Columbus Grove on Saturday, March 14. The race will begin at 2 p.m. in downtown Columbus Grove and will be four miles long through town and out into the country and back, all on paved roads. Registration the day of the race will begin at noon and will take place in Columbus Grove’s high school gymnasium. An awards ceremony will be held there as well, following the race. Each runner will receive a coupon for one bowl of “hobo stew” and T-shirts are available for those who pre-register for the race. Door prizes will be given away shortly after the race. TRAPSHOOTING

Lima: The Lima Sabres have various shooting events. Thursday Trap Practice for Adults/Juniors/Beginners is 4 p.m. weekly. Adult Trap Practice is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, weather permitting.
