Each week, The Lima News publishes a calendar of events of local interest. Events should be submitted by noon Wednesday of each week to The Lima News.

ARCHERY

Allen County: The Allen County Archers are holding traditional 3-D shoots on the third Saturday of the month all year long. They are open to all archery equipment.

Columbus Grove: The Columbus Grove Archery Club is holding its traditional shoots at 7:30 Thursday evenings through April.

BASEBALL

Lima: The Reds Caravan will be making its annual trek to Lima at the Apollo Career center at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17.

Scheduled to come are infielder Mike Moustakas, manager David Bell, minor league outfielder Narciso Crook, roving catching instructor and former catcher Corky Miller, broadcaster Thom Brennaman, president & COO Phil Castellini and vice president & assistant general manager Sam Grossman. Broadcaster Brian Giesenschlag will make appearances at select stops on the North Tour.

BASKETBALL

Delphos: The Jefferson boys’ basketball and baseball staffs, have scheduled the seventh annual Wildcat fourth, fifth and sixth grade tournament to be held Feb. 22-23 at Delphos Jefferson Schools. This is for girls teams. There will be separate divisions for each grade level. Each team will be guaranteed a minimum of three games. Entry fee for this event is $125. Games on Saturday, Feb. 22, will be played morning/early afternoon so youth girls wanting to attend their high school girls teams’ sectional finals that night can be accommodated. HALL OF FAME

Lima: The next induction of the Lima City Schools Athletic Hall of Fame will be held Feb. 15 with tickets to the event on sale now in the Lima Senior Athletic Office.

The Lima City Schools Athletic Hall of Fame honors teams, athletes, coaches and contributors from Lima Senior High School, Central High School and South High School. A Legacy Award has been added this year.

Inductees will first be recognized during halftime of the Friday, Feb. 14, home basketball game. Tipoff of the varsity game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at the UNOH Event Center, 1450 N. Cable Road. A reception for inductees and families will begin at 5 p.m. with the dinner and program starting at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $35 and can be purchased in the Lima Senior Athletic Office during school hours. A table can be reserved for $280. To reserve tickets, call 419-996-3050.

HORSESHOES

Lima: The Allen County Horseshoe Pitchers, located at 1815 C St., have openings in leagues and doubles. Open doubles begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturdays. Corn hole leagues are forming. KARATE

Lima: The Lima Family YMCA is holding a karate program from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The fee is $30 for members and $60 for nonmembers.

PICKLEBALL

Lima: Pickleball is played at Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima: The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for nonmembers or $20 per month for nonmembers (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net.

Bluffton: The Bluffton Family Recreation will be offering pickleball from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 7-9 p.m. Tuesdays and from 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 5-7 p.m. Thursdays.

TENNIS

Lima: The Lima Area Tennis Association and the United States Tennis Association will be holding a free middle school team tennis program at the Westwood Tennis and Fitness Center with Jeff Brown, the tennis pro, overseeing the program every Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. through Feb. 23. Tennis shoes are required. This is for individuals ages 12-14 and early registration is preferred. To register call Westwood Tennis and Fitness at 419-222-1515. No new players will be added after third session Jan. 19.

TRAPSHOOTING

Lima: The Lima Sabres have various shooting events. Thursday Trap Practice for Adults/Juniors/Beginners is 4 p.m. weekly. Adult Trap Practice is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesdays, weather permitting.
