Lima area competition for the Elks Hoop Shoot will be held at the Lima Community Church Axis Center, 2945 N Cole Street, Lima, at 9 a.m. Saturday. Registration will begin at 8:30a.m.
The Elks Hoop Shoot is the national free throw shooting contest for boys and girls age 8 through 13. Each contestant has 25 shots at the hoop. The boy and girl in each age group (8-9; 10-11; and 12-13) with the best score advance through four tiers of competition to qualify for the national finals.
Local winners will compete against other contestants in the District Hoop Shoot event at Ohio Northern University in Ada. The district competition will be held in the King Horn Gymnasium at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12. Registration will begin at 1:30 p.m.
