ADA — Christiaan Williams became Ohio Northern’s all-time career rushing leader as the Polar Bears celebrated Senior Day with a 34-28 Bendekovic Bowl victory Saturday against Heidelberg at Dial-Roberson Stadium.
Williams has gained 4,197 yards in 29 career games and passed the previous record of 4,169 by Jamal Robertson from 1997-2000.
The Polar Bears (6-4 overall) finished tied for third in the 10-team Ohio Athletic Conference with a 6-3 league mark .
Northern also grabbed its second victory in the annual Bendekovic Bowl series with Heidelberg (6-4, 5-4), which honors the late Ronnie and Jason Bendekovic, who served as assistants at ONU and Heidelberg, respectively.
Anthony McFadden accounted for ONU’s other four touchdowns, including the game-winner on a 12-yard run with 38 seconds left that broke a 28-all tie.
He finished the day completing 17-of-27 passes for a season-high 346 yards and two scores and ran 21 times for 71 yards and two scores, giving him 417 yards of total offense.
Defensively for ONU, Jacob Bailey had a career-high 14 tackles and David Haseleu added 12 tackles.
Defiance 10, Bluffton 7
DEFIANCE — The Beavers fell to 2-8 overall and 2-5 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conferencem while the Yellow Jackets improved to 1-9 overall and 1-6 in the HCAC. The Beavers lead the all-time series 47-46-2.
After falling behind 10-0, Bluffton’s Jontez Chaney-McClarin hauled in a 35-yard strike from Zachary Nobis with 6:14 left in the game.
The Beavers then held the Yellow Jacket to a three and out, allowing Bluffton to either take the lead or tie it up.
A field goal try for the Beavers got blocked. Bluffton again forced another three and out, but the Yellow Jackets recovered a Beavers fumble to seal the Defiance victory.
Nobis went 20-of-31 for 173 yards with one touchdown and an interception. Dontez Rash led all Bluffton rushers with 52 yards on five carries.
Ollie Moorer led the way for the Beaver defense with 15 tackles. McKinley Hunter contributed 12 stops.
Dayton 46, Drake 29
DES MOINES, Iowa — Jake Chisholm ran for three touchdowns, Jack Cook ran for a pair of touchdowns and the Flyers boosted their record to 7-3, 5-2 in the Pioneer Football League and forced a three-way tie for second with the Bulldogs (5-5, 5-2) and Davidson (8-3, 5-2).

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Kurtis Wilderman was 17-of-20 passing for 140 yards and Indiana State (4-7, 2-5 Missouri Valley) rushed for three touchdowns in a victory against Youngstown State (5-6, 1-6).
