Roundup: Miller City’s Berner throws softball no-hitter against Pandora-Gilboa

MILLER CITY — Kylie Berner allowed no hits and a walk while striking out four as the host Wildcats defeated Pandora-Gilboa 13-0 in high school softball Tuesday night. Berner also had two hits and four RBI. Abbey Schroeder had her 100th career hit, Makenna Lehman had three hits and two RBI and Morgan Niese had two hits and an RBI also for Miller City.

Shawnee 16, Elida 4

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — Alissa Stahler had two hits, including a grand slam home run, Kayla Seitz had two hits and Morgan Golden had a double and three RBI for Shawnee. The Indians will play at Wapakoneta at 5 p.m. Friday. Morgan Klatt tripled for Elida.

Celina 4, Kenton 3

CELINA — Haley Kirk scored the winning run on an errant throw after Taylor Turner doubled in Maddy Luebke tie the game at three. Alivia Purtee gave Kenton a 3-2 lead with a three-run homer in the top of the seventh.

Luebke had three hits, including a home run and a double, and two RBI. Bailey Laux and Emily Keith each had two hits also for the host Bulldogs. Purtee had two hits as did teammates Alivia Purte and Lacie Nichols. Celina will play at second-seeded Defiance at 5 p.m. Friday.

Division III

Allen East 16, Ottawa-Glandorf 11

HARROD — Lakin Basham had two home runs and seven RBI and Aliva Craig and Chloe Lawrence each had a double for Allen East, which plays at top seeded Fairview at 5 p.m. Friday.

Division III

Bluffton 8, Spencerville 2

BLUFFTON — Winning pitcher Libby Schaadt allowed one earned run, four hits and five walks while striking out eight in seven innings.

Schaadt also had two hits and an RBI. Katie Prater had four hits, including a home run, and three RBI, Averey Rumer had two hits and Mara Minnig had a hit and an RBI also for Bluffton, which will play at 5 p.m. Friday at Paulding. Bailey Swartz had a hit and an RBI and Kara May and Gracie Butorac each doubled for Spencerville.

Paulding 15, Jefferson 9

PAULDING — Megan Tope had four hits and three RBI, Jalynn Parrett had three hits, Leigha Egnor had two hits and an RBI, Ashlynn Rice and Audrey Manz each had two hits and an RBI and Asia Arellano had a hit and two RBI for the host Panthers. Michelle Rode homered, Noel Warnament had two hits and three RBI, Skye Stevenson had two hits and two RBI, Audrey North had two hits and an RBI and Jayla Rostorfer had two hits for Jefferson.

Crestview 7, Coldwater 6

CONVOY — Avery McCoy scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh from third base on an error. McCoy had three hits, including two triples, Codi Miller had four hits and two RBI and Hanna Binnion had a double and two RBI also for Crestview. Maura Hoying and Molly Steinke each had three hits and an RBI, Grace Bruns had two hits and Sierra Timmerman had a hit and two RBI for Coldwater. Crestview will play Friday at 5 p.m. at Liberty-Benton.

WAPAKONETA — Lexi Jacobs had two hits and three RBI, Mallory Liles had three hits, Grace Jolly tripled and doubled and Mackenzie Roop had a double and two RBI for Wapak. Marissa Topp had three hits and two RBI, Abbi Thieman had two hits and an RBI and Molly Smith had a hit and two RBI for New Bremen.

Kalida 14, Cory-Rawson 11

RAWSON — Kyona Grady had two hits, including a home run, and five RBI, Hannah Warn had three hits and two stolens bases, Hannah Smith had two his and two RBI and Makenna Hoyt had two hits and two RBI for Kalida. Taylor Born had four hits, an RBI and three stolen bases, Kate Yant had two hits and Sav Traucht had a hit and three RBI for C-R.

Ada 10, McComb 5

ADA — Sydney Newland and Sidney Gossard each had three hits and three RBI, Raina England had three hits and an RBI, Teara Coulson had three hits and Madisyn Gossard had two hits and an RBI for Ada.

Parkway’s Haley Hawk (player of the year) and Minster’s Robb Hemmelgarn (coach of the year) earned top honors in the Midwest Athletic Conference.

FINDLAY — Tyrin Mathias doubled for Lima Senior. Caleb Dugan allowed no runs, two hits and three walks while striking out four in 4 2/3 innings of relief for the visiting Spartans.

ELIDA — The Bulldogs scored in the winning run in the seventh inning. Luke Burger had two hits and an RBI and Jordan Davis had a hit and an RBI.

Kalida 10, Spencerville 1

SPENCERVILLE — Trevor Lambert had two hits, including a home run, and four RBI, Owen Recker homered, Luke Erhart had two hits, including a double, and Gabe Hovest and Josh Recker each doubled and had two RBI for Kalida. Luke Falke had a double and an RBI for Spencerville.

St. Henry 7, Celina 0

ST. HENRY — Winning pitcher Rylee Deitsch (3-0) allowed four hits and no walks while striking out three in six innings. Ryan Luttmer, Rylee Deitsch, Jay Knapke and Daylen Froning each had two hits for the Redskins who extended their winning streak to nine games.

Jason Moots had a triple, a double and two RBI and Jared Hunt, Quinn Sanders and Jayvin Castle each had two hits and an RBI for USV, which will play at top-seeded Carey at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Fort Jennings 7, Leipsic 2

FORT JENNINGS — Winning pitcher Brandon Wehri allowed no earned runs, two hits and five walks while striking out seven. He also had two hits. Aaron Kloeppel and Aaron Sealts each had two hits and an RBI for the host Musketeers. Trey Schroeder had two hits and an RBI for Leipsic.

Parkway 9, Jefferson 3

ROCKFORD — Seth Stuckey had a home run, Clayton Agler had two hits and three RBI, Corey Walls had two hits, including a triple, and Mason Baxter has two hits for Parkway. Darnell Simpson had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI and Brenen Auer had a double, a single and an RBI for Jefferson.

Derek Stout had two doubles and three doubles and three RBI, Caden Hurless and Riley Saylor had two hits each and Dylan Hicks and Griffin Painter had a hit and an RBI each for Crestview, which will play at New Bremen at 5 p.m. Thursday. Nate Ketchum, Dalton Clum and Ben Lawrence had Allen East’s hits.

UNOH tourney

opener Monday

UNOH (30-12) will open NAIA tournament play at 2:30 p.m. Monday against Georgia Gwinnett (49-3) at the Grizzly Softball Complex in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The first game of the day, set for noon, will have second seed and 20th-ranked Oregon Tech (36-13) against third seed and 22nd-ranked Southeastern (FL) (40-16). The double elimination tournament continues through Wednesday with the winner advancing to the NAIA Softball World Series May 25-31 in Clermont, Florida.

Georgia Gwinnett is the No. 1 ranked team in the country in the final regular-season NAIA Coaches Poll which was released Tuesday.

Northwestern Ohio qualified for the NAIA Tournament by winning all four games at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Tournament.
