Elida graduate Poling drafted by Dolphins

ATHENS – Elida graduate Quentin Poling from Ohio University was selected with the 227th overall pick during the seventh round of the NFL draft Saturday by the Miami Dolphins.

Poling was a first team All-Mid-American Conference linebacker for the Bobcats this past season and led Ohio with 107 total tackles and 49 solo stops. Poling also led the team with 5.5 sacks, 12.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. Poling holds Ohio records in career solo tackles (221) and career tackles for loss (44.0).

Poling was the only OU player taken in this year’s draft. Poling is the 35th Bobcats player to be drafted and the ninth under head coach Frank Solich.
