ARCHERY

Allen County Archers

The Allen County Archers, at the corner of state Route 117 and Defiance Trail, have monthly shoots planned. A traditional shoot is held the third Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two day shooting events will be held the first Saturday and Sunday of every month through September. BASEBALL

Bluffton

The Bluffton University baseball team will play host to a Youth Skills Camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. July 10-11. The camp is open to youth ages 9-13. Cost is $60. Registration forms can be found at bluffton.edu/baseballyouth

The camp will offer a fun and collaborative environment that teaches and builds on the fundamentals of baseball. Bluffton University coaches and players will teach all aspects of the game including hitting, defense, throwing and base running. Participants will need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle and all baseball equipment (helmet, glove, bat, catcher’s equipment, etc.)

BASKETBALL

Lima

The OSU Lima/Rhodes State will be having an open gym at 4 p.m. July 9 on campus. It is for any female students that have the desire to play. For more information contact Phil Sensabaugh at 614-753-9526.

FOOTBALL

Lima

New football officials classes will be held at Shawnee High School from 6 – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. The cost is $65. To become a OHSAA football official, applicants complete 25 hours of class and field time. GOLF

Bluffton

Bluffton University’s 20th annual Alumni and Friends Golf Scramble will be held Saturday, July 15, at Colonial Golfers Club. Registration for this event is $90 per person or $360 per team. This cost includes greens fee, cart and lunch. To attend the lunch only is $10. Lima

The Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic is scheduled for Aug. 2 at Hidden Creek Golf Club and Colonial Golfers Club. Entry fee is $85 per golfer or $340 for a foursome, which includes two beverage tickets, a goodie bag, a door prize drawing ticket and lunch. North Baltimore

The Challenged Champions Equestrian Center, Inc. is hosting its annual golf outing Aug. 26. This will be at the Birch Run Golf Club in North Baltimore. It is $50 per golfer, and there will be a first-place team prize, individual contests on every hole, and a chance to win $1,500 for a 50-foot putt. Sponsorships and donations for door prizes are being accepted.

Lima

PICKLEBALL

Lima

Pickleball is played at Bradfield Center from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. All skill levels are welcome.

Lima

The Lima YMCA is holding open pickleball play from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday (appointment only). Free for YMCA members and $3 per visit for nonmembers or $20 per month for non members (unlimited play). Individuals can register online at limaymca.net.

RUNNING

Lima

The first Allan Nott 5K Family Fun Run will be held at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 at Allan Nott Honda Toyota, 3500 Elida Road, Lima. Registration fee is a $20 donation to Relay for Life for adults and $5 for those ages 12 and younger. All proceeds benefit Relay for Life of Lima.

Wapakoneta

The Run to the Moon 10k, 5k and 1 mile bling run/walk, sponsored by the Wapakoneta Air and Space Museum, will be held July 22. Registration is at 8 a.m. The cost is $30 for the 10k and 5k and includes a T-shirt and a medal and the 1 mile bling run/walk is $25. Registration available at speedy-feet.com. Fort Jennings

a 5k run/walk in Fort Jennings will be held at 6:30 p.m Aug. 12. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m., and there will be an awards ceremony following the race. This race is being held in conjunction with the St. Joseph’s Church Festival, with food and drinks available after the race.

Delphos

The St. Judes Run For The Kids 5K will be held July 22. Cost is $18 which includes a dri-fit shirt. Race begins at 9:30 a.m. at Huggy Bear Campground west of Delphos on Lincoln Highway.

SHOOTING

Lima Sabres

The Lima Sabres has various shooting events. Thursday Trap Practice and League is 4 p.m. weekly. Junior Wednesday morning trap practice is 9 a.m. to noon weekly, weather permitting. For additional information, go to limasabres.com or visit on Facebook.

SOCCER

Bluffton

Bluffton Family Recreation will play host to a British Soccer Camp from July 24-28. The camp has classes for youth ages 3 to 18 at various times during the day with varying registration fees. First kicks – ages 3-4, includes soccer basics, fun soccer games, stories and challenges. Mini-soccer – ages 4-5, includes skill-building activities and small-sided games. Half-day camps – ages 5-16, include individual foot skills, juggling and coached games. Full-day camps – ages 8-18, include advanced techniques, game-related practices and competitive play. Golden goal – ages 6-16, includes sessions of skills, competitions and scrimmages. Team camps – all ages, include customized training for teams. Kalida

The Wildcat Soccer Camp will be held at the Kalida Four Seasons Park July 24-28. Individuals 6-9 years old will conduct their camp from 9 a.m. to noon and individuals 10-15 will hold their session from 1-4 p.m. Cost of the camp is $50. Registration deadline is July 20. This year’s camp will be under the direction of Cristin Allen Czubik. Czubik played four years of Division I soccer and was an assistant coach at Vanderbilt for seven years and was the technical director of coaching for the Sky Soccer Club in Bowling Green, Kentucky, for seven years. SOFTBALL

Bluffton

The Bluffton University softball team will host day camps for advanced and youth players. An advanced day camp will take place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m July 10-11. During the camp, for students entering grades 8-12, participants will have the opportunity to advance their skills in fielding, hitting, base running and more under the guidance of Bluffton University coaches and players. The registration fee is $80.

A youth day camp will be held from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. July 12. This camp is for students entering grades 1-7 in the fall. This camp will teach softball fundamentals, including proper throwing, fielding and hitting mechanics. Bluffton coaches and players will also lead this camp. The registration fee is $50.

Both camps will have a bonus pitching camp from 8-9 a.m. each morning before the traditional camps begin. Cost is $40 for both days for advanced participants and $30 for youth participants. Pitchers must bring their own catcher.

Campers will need to bring a sack lunch, water bottle and all softball equipment. The camps will be held on the Bluffton University softball field, and all participants will receive a T-shirt. TENNIS

Lima

The Lima Area Tennis Association and the Lima Parks and Recreation Department is offering free lessons for junior and pee wee players. The junior tennis lessons, for ages 9-17, will be held through July 20 at the Collett Courts at 9 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The pee wee lessons will be held through July 20 and are at 10:15 a.m. Thursdays.
