Locos score 6 times in 5th to earn win

HAMILTON — The Lima Locos scored six runs in the top of the fifth on their way to a 6-2 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League victory Thursday night against the Joes.

Tyler Tolbert (UAB) and Stephen Dobbs (UAB) each had two hits and Jack Barrie (UNOH), Ethan Hurt (Trevecca Nazarene) and Parker Upton (Creighton) each had a hit and two RBI for the Locos (6-2).

Winning pitcher Zach Graveno (Mercer) threw five innings, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out three.

Junior golf

Rager shoots 67

VAN WERT — Joshah Rager shot a 5-under 67 for the the low round and the boys 16-18 championship in the Lee Kinstle GM Open at Hickory Sticks Golf Club as part of the Lima Junior Golf Association McDonalds Junior Series.

Tanner Sweede defeated Christian Nartker for second after each shot 75.

Jill Schmitmeyer was the girls 16-18 winner with a 73 followed by Erin Mulcahy with a 77. Ethan Ricketts won the boys 14-15 crown with an 85. Carson Harmon was second with an 89.

In par-36 nine-hole competition, Jacker Gerker (42) was first and Isaiah Johns (43) finished second in the boys 12-13 competition and Ellen Naumann won the girls 15 and younger division with a 39. Kayla Watkins was second with a 46.

ACME baseball

Elida 7, Kenton 2

KENTON — Winning pitcher Justin Moore allowed no hits and struck out seven in a seven-inning outing Wednesday. Noah Adcock and TJ Whipple each doubled for Elida.
