Senior classes

Senior Citizen Services, 3400 W. Elm St., Lima, offers classes open to the public at a cost of $5 per class. The Allen County Archers, at the corner of state Route 117 and Defiance Trail, have a pair of monthly shoots planned. Ottawa Legion

The Ottawa American Legion Post 63 is prepared for its summer season. An informational meeting is 6 p.m. May 1 at the Ottawa American Legion Post 63, 218 W. Main St., Ottawa. Bath

The Bath High School baseball program has its annual Best of the Northwest youth baseball tournament June 10, 11 and 12. There will be a 12-U, 10-U and 8-U coach pitch division. Delphos

The seventh annual Nathan Miller Memorial Baseball Tournament is June 3, 4 and 5 at Delphos Stadium Park. The tournament is a 16-20 team tournament for boys age 11-12, with age cutoff of April 1. The tournament is pool play with a three-game guarantee. Players must be from the same school district. Cost is $150. Deadline to enter is May 13. Lima

The Lima Wood Bat Classic is June 17-19 at Faurot Park, Lima. Teams are guaranteed three games minimum. All fields have fences, with three lighted field. 12-U age group only, with registration of $200 per team. Bats will be provided and used for all games. BASKETBALL

Lima

The Ohio Aviators’ clinic and 3 on 3 tournament is April 30 at Bradfield Center, 550 Collett St., Lima. The skills clinic for boys and girls age 6-17 starts at 10 a.m. and costs $15 per player. The May Classic Basketball Tournament is May 14-15 at the Heminger Center at Tiffin University. There will be boys’ fourth-grade through eighth-grade divisions. Bluffton

Bluffton Family Recreation accepts registrations for its summer junior high boys basketball league. The league has a division for seventh-grade teams and a division for eighth-grade teams. Teams play back-to-back doubleheaders each week, with seventh grade on Tuesday evenings from May 21 to June 28 and eighth grade on Monday evenings from May 30 to June 27. Registration runs to May 20. The Lima Express camp will be held July 25-28 at Lima Central Catholic. Sessions will be 9 a.m. to noon (third through fifth grade), 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (sixth through eighth grade). Cost is $100. Lima

Team Roadrunners, a local bicycling club, will sponsor the Limaland Bicycle Tour the morning of June 18 beginning at Ottawa Metro Park, 2632 Ada Road in Lima. Four routes are available: 18 miles on the Lima Riverwalk ($10 individual pre-registered, $25 family pre-registered) with refreshments; 35, 65 and 100 miles ($20 individual pre-registered) with refreshments, rest stops on the road and lunch afterwards. All pre-registered riders by June 5 receive a free T-shirt (family riverwalk pre-registrations receive two free T-shirts). After June 5th and day-of-event registrations are available, but increase $5 for all categories with no T-shirts. Scenic riverwalk and low traffic country roads with well-marked turns, sag/mechanic support, flat to rolling terrain, maps and refreshments are included. The second annual Ride to Remember bicycle ride is in Bluffton on July 16. The start is 8 a.m. Route options include 2, 10, 36, 64 and 100 miles. Registration through June 30 is $20 for individuals, $15 for a second family member and $5 for each additional family member. Costs are $5 more after June 30. The Delphos Country Club hosts the Big Hole Tournament on May 14, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Four-player teams compete in a scramble format. Kalida

The third annual Kalida Support Shamble has a shotgun start at 9 a.m. May 14 at Country Acres Golf Club. Cost is $50 per player or $200 per team for 18 holes of golf with a cart, lunch and one beverage. The format is a four-person shamble, using the team’s two best scores. A scramble is played from the tee, and then each player plays his or her own ball in from there. Trophies and $400 go to the winner, with $200 to second place. Van Wert

The 21st annual DARE Golf Outing is May 14 at Hickory Sticks Golf Course, Van Wert, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Rain date is May 22. Proceeds go back to the youth to fund DARE schooling. There is a $10,000 prize for a hole-in-one on No. 4, sponsored by Young’s Waste Service for the 17th year. There are three bonus holes for additional prizes. Other hole sponsorships are available for $100 with a sign. Cost is $50 per man for the tournament, including golf, cart, door prizes and lunch. Findlay

The annual Boy Scout Golf Classic for the Black Swamp Area Council is Monday, May 23 at the Findlay Country Club. It begins with a shotgun start at 11:30 a.m. and an on-course lunch. The event is a scramble, with on-course games, including a putting green challenge and “challenge the scout” drive. There will be hole-in-one prizes on all par 3 holes. The 5th annual Big Brothers Big Sisters Golf For Kids’ Sake scramble tees off with a 1 p.m. shotgun start on June 26 at Pike Run Golf Club, 10807 Road H, Ottawa. The 73rd annual Lima Area Womens’ Match Play Tournament is July 21-24. Starting times are 9 a.m. on Thursday and Friday and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with matches played at Lost Creek Golf Club, Hidden Creek Golf Club, Delphos Golf Club and Shawnee Country Club. You do not need a USGA handicap to participate, and organizers will try to fulfill pairing requests for the qualifying round. After qualifying, the tournament heads to match play this year. Pickleball is played from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Bradfield Center. Beginners are welcome.

Lima

The Lima YMCA has pickle ball from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursdays at the Lima Family YMCA Annex, 345 S. Elizabeth St., Lima. The game is a combination of ping pong, tennis and badminton, and it’s open to young adults, adults and seniors of different ages and abilities. It’s free for Lima YMCA members, $3 per visit for non-members or $20 per month for unlimited play for non-members. Register online at www.limaymca.net or at the YMCA Annex security office.

Lima

The YMCA Annex is open to pickleball players from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Scheduled play is from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. When entering the facility, check in at the security office. Courts are in the two gyms. No charge for Y members. Cost for non-members is $3 per session or $20 per month. All skill levels.

RUNNING

Glass City Marathon

The Mercy Health Glass City Marathon in April 24 in Toledo. Normal and late registration is available until April 23, with no registrations allowed on race day. Register online at glasscitymarathon.org.

Spring Fling

Donor Dash 5K

Donor Dash 5K is scheduled for Sunday, April 24 at Delphos Jefferson High School. Race starts at 1:08 p.m., with timing by Lima Run and Jog Club. Event benefits Lifeline of Ohio. It will be part of the new Delphos Running Series for 2016, which rewards runners with special awards medals, sponsored by Peak Community Fitness. 5K for Kate Benroth

The 5K for Kate Benroth, raising money to support her medical needs and to support research for Batten disease, is 10 a.m. May 7 at the Vaughnsville Community Center, 115 E. Findlay St., Vaughnsville. A 5K run/walk starts and finishes in the parking lot. Race-day registration is $25. Awards will be given for age divisions. There is also a 1-mile fun walk for $6 on race day, with T-shirts costing $8. There will also be an exercise class at 10 a.m. for $10 per person, with Beth Casper instructing. Landen’s 5K for SIDS Awareness

Grand Lake Health System will hold the third annual Landen’s 5K for SIDS Awareness on May 7 at Grand Lake St. Marys on East Bank Road in St. Marys. Landel Phlipot died when he was three months old from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Registration opens at 8 a.m., with the 5K beginning at 9 a.m. Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners, along with age category winners. Superhero 5K and 5-Miler

The new Superhero 5K and 5-Miler is scheduled for May 14 in Delphos. Color Run/Walk 5K

The second annual Color Run/Walk 5K at Summer Kickoff 2016 is 11 a.m. June 18 on the east bank of Grand Lake St. Marys. Single entry is $37, with two to three runners/walkers for $29 each or four or more for $26 each. Children 7 and under are free or $10 each with a shirt. Taylor’s Way 5K

The third annual Taylor’s Way 5K Run/Walk is June 18 at Hardin Northern School, 11589 state Route 81, Dola, in the west parking lot. Registration and packet pickup begins at 8 a.m., with the 5K run/walk at 9:30 a.m. Kids fun runs begin at 11 a.m. Entry fee is $20 for registration postmarked before June 5, with a free T-shirt. Registration is $23 after June 5 without a T-shirt or $30 with a T-shirt. The kids fun run is $4 for ages 10-14, 90-6 and 6 and under without a T-shirt or $9 with a T-shirt. Awards are given for the top three finishers in each age group and to the top overall male and female winners. The event benefits St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Taylor Carder. 5K on the Lake

The ninth annual 5K on The Lake begins at 8:30 a.m. July 2 at the site of the former Lakeview Elementary School, 530 W. Lake St., Lakeview. Entry fee is $20 for run and shirt and $10 just for the run if pre-registered by June 27. Race-day registration is $25 for run and shirt and $15 for run only, with limited race-day T-shirts available. Packet pickup is 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. the day of the race at the school site. The Moulton Gun Club, 14062 Bay Road, Wapakoneta will be holding ATA registered trap shoots on May 8, June 19, July 10 and Aug. 14. Shoots start at noon.
