Delphos Jefferson LB Hicks signs with Kent State

Dalton Hicks was the driving force on the Delphos Jefferson defense.

On Wednesday, he was rewarded for his efforts this year and over his career by signing to play football at Kent State.

Hicks, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound middle linebacker, had 107 tackles, 18 for loss for the Wildcats. He had 496 career tackles.

He was first team all-Northwest Conference and was the NWC defensive player of the year. He was first team all-district, and second team all-state. He was also named to The Lima News’ Dream Team.

“Kent State was a school he wanted to go to for quite some time and what an opportunity for him,” Delphos Jefferson coach Chris Sommers said. “It’s very exciting. He’s a great football player. Dalton is such a physical football player and is a student of the game.”

Sommers said that Hicks signed a full scholarship.

Liles signs with Trine

Lima Senior wide receiver/defensive back Demontay Liles signed to play at Trine, in Angola, Ind.

Liles was second team all-Three Rivers Athletic Conference at defensive back.

Liles had five interceptions on defense. On offense, she had 1,000 yards combined rushing and receiving yards.

Chambers to Heidelberg

Wapakoneta defensive lineman Zach Chambers signed to play at Heidelberg in the Ohio Athletic Conference.

Shobe signs with Cincinnati Christian

Bath defensive lineman Tyler Shobe signed to play at Cincinnati Christian University.

The 6-foot, 196-pounder had 121 tackles, 13 tackles for loss and seven sacks. He was named first team all-Western Buckeye League, first team all-district and second team all-state. He was a member of The Lima News Dream Team.

Cincinnati Christian University will begin its first year of varsity football in the fall of 2016. Former Bengals defensive back David Fulcher will be CCU’s coach.

Cincinnati Christian University is a member of the NAIA Division II.

Rudasill signs with Saginaw Valley

Bath lineman Easton Rudasill signed with Saginaw Valley State in the Division II Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Rudasill, a 6-5, 250-pounder, was second team all-Western Buckeye League. He was second team all-district.

Sitton signs with Findlay

Paulding defensive end/offensive lineman Jarrett Sitton signed to play at Division Findlay.

Sitton was first team all-NWC on the offensive line.

Crawford signs with Findlay

Wapakoneta offensive lineman Corey Crawford signed with Findlay.

The 6-4, 284-pound offensive lineman was first team all-WBL and the WBL defensive lineman of the year.

He was first team all-state and a member of The Lima News Dream Team.

Cross signs with Ashland

Van Wert tight end Gavin Cross signed with Ashland.

The 6-5, 245-pounder Cross was second team all-WBL on the defensive line. He was honorable mention all-district.

On defense, he had 47 tackles, four for loss.

Wenning signs with Ashland

Fort Recovery wide receiver Wes Wenning signed with Ashland.

Wenning had 49 receptions for 688 yards and four TDs. He was second team all-Midwest Athletic Conference and first team all-district.

Stubbs signs to play golf at Lourdes

Bath’s Spencer Stubbs signed to play golf at Lourdes University at Toledo. Lourdes in an NAIA school in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Nolan Smith signs with Wayne State

Van Wert offensive lineman Nolan Smith signed with Wayne State.

The 6-4, 280-pound Smith was first team all-WBL and first team all-district. He was special mention all-state.

Colin Smith signs with Davenport

Van Wert quarterback Colin Smith signed with Davenport, from the NAIA Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference.

Smith was the WBL flex player of the year. He was second team all-district.

Gardner signs with St. Francis

Van Wert kicked Gavin Gardner signed to play at St. Francis, in Fort Wayne.

Mogolu to Ashland

Findlay running back Emmanuel Mogolu, who played against Lima Senior the last several years, signed with Ashland.

Alexander to sign with Mount Union

Elida quarterback Logan Alexander is expected to sign today with Division III Mount Union.

Alexander was first team all-WBL and first team all-district. He was first team all-state.

Alexander threw for 1,183 yards and 11 TDs. He rushed for 1,331 yards and 16 TDs. He was a member of The Lima News Dream Team.

Morrison to sign with UNOH

Elida’s Austin Morrison is expected to sign today to play baseball at the University of Northwestern Ohio.

Whitaker to sign with Mount Vernon

Waynesfield-Goshen’s Connor Whitaker will sign with Mount Vernon Nazarene on Friday for track and field on Friday at Waynesfield.
