Thompson sets Lima Senior record with 46 points against Celina

Lima Senior’s Rion Thompson set the school girls basketball single game scoring record when she scored 46 points in a 92-51 win over Celina in a non-league game at Lima Senior on Monday night.

Thompson, who also is the school record-holder in career scoring for the Spartans in girls basketball, added nine rebounds. She has signed to play at Bowling Green State University next year.

Essence Cowan had 22 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Spartans (12-6, 6-4 Three Rivers Athletic Conference. Kierre James had 14 points, eight assists and eight steals.

Lima Senior is tied for second in the TRAC with Toledo Whitmer. Toledo Central Catholic (13-3, 8-2 TRAC) and Notre Dame Academcy (10-7, 8-2 TRAC) were tied for the league lead going into Monday night.

Notre Dame got a boost when Brelynn Hampton-Bey became eligible after sitting out the first 11 games of the season after she transferred from Toledo Rogers. She has verbally committed to sign with the University of Michigan.

Oregon Clay (10-6, 5-5 TRAC), Fremont Ross (8-10, 2-8 TRAC) and St. Ursula (2-12, 0-10 TRAC) occupy the last three spots in the standings.

Fort Jennings 48, Lincolnview 29

A big second half, when the Musketeers outscored the Lancers 30-14, gave Fort Jennings a double-digits non-league win after a close first half.

Kylie Jettinghoff led Fort Jennings with 14 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Jessie Young scored nine points, Haley Wittler had eight points aqnd Abby VonSossan scored eight points.

Alena Looser’s 11 points led Lincolnview.

Fort Jennings forced 28 turnovers.
