Locos score early, hold on for 5-4 win over Galion

GALION — The Lima Locos took a 5-0 lead in the second inning then held on for a 5-4 decision over Galion in a Great Lakes Collegiate League baseball game on Tuesday night.

Galion outhit the Locos 12-7 but five errors helped contribute to the Graders’ demise.

Brett Murray went 2 for 4 and drove in three runs for Lima. Starting pitcher Tyler Miller got the win.

The Locos started the scoring in the first inning when Grant Williams singled and Luke Reynolds reached on an error, putting runners at first and second base. After a ground out moved them to second and third, Murray doubled to score both runners.

In the second inning, with one out, Trey Logan reached on an error, Grant Williams walked and Luke Reynolds reached base on an error on Galion’s left fielder. Logan scored on the error and the runners ended up on second and third base.

Will Kilgore followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0 and Murray delivered a run-scoring single to increase the lead to 5-0.

Galion cut the margin to 5-4 in the ninth inning and had runners on first and second before the Locos got a game-ending double play.
