Locos splitdoubleheaderwith Cincinnati

CINCINNATI — The Lima Locos of the Great Lakes Collegiate League split a doubleheader with the Steam on Sunday at McLeary Field.

The Locos won the opener 3-0 but dropped the second game 9-6.

In the 3-0 triumph, winning pitcher Will Solomon (2-0) (Georgia Gwinnett) went four innings, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out four. Logan Barnette (Georgia State) went the final three innings, allowing two hits while striking out two.

The Locos scored twice in the second inning. Brett Murray (Creighton) scored the first run from third on a groundout by Luke Reynolds (Mississippi State). Kyle London (Washington) followed with a single and then scored on a Michael Emodi (Creighton) triple. Lima’s third run was scored in the seventh. London and Emodi finished with two hits each.

In game two, Lima owned a 4-3 advantage before giving up five runs in the seventh inning and another in the eighth. Henry Rowling (Georgia) had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI, Mitchell Carriger (Maryville) had two hits and an RBI, Cole Gordon (Mississippi State) had two hits, including a double, and Will Kilgore (Georgia State) homered for the Locos.

Lima (7-4) will play host to Southern Ohio (9-3) at 7:05 tonight at Simmons Field.
