Ex-OSU star running back admits DUI, gets 2 years’ probation

MOUNT GILEAD, Ohio (AP) — A former Ohio State University football star running back has admitted he drove under the influence.

Maurice Clarett pleaded guilty under a deal with prosecutors and received a suspended sentenced of 60 days in jail Monday in Mount Gilead.

Court records show that all but three of those days were suspended for the Canal Winchester man. He must serve two years of probation and undergo a driver intervention program. His driver’s license is also suspended for 180 days.

Clarett was traveling on Interstate 71 in Morrow County on Jan. 3. A fellow motorist followed him for about 20 minutes and reported seeing him driving erratically.

Clarett was released from probation last February after a 2006 conviction on robbery and gun charges.

He didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
