St. Rita’s honored for sustainability

LIMA — Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center received the Greenhealth Emerald Award for environmental stewardship in recognition of the health system’s sustainability programs.

Practice Greenhealth honors the top 20% of applicants to its Partner for Change program with the emerald award, which focuses on advanced sustainability programs.

This is the third consecutive year St. Rita’s has received an award from Greenhealth.

The health system’s sustainability efforts in the operating room earned it an award for “greening” the operating room this year as well.

“We are so proud of our teams for their commitment to improving sustainability efforts at St. Rita’s Medical Center,” Ronda Lehman, president of Mercy Health-Lima, said in a press release.

“As a faith-based ministry, we strive to be good stewards of our resources and we are proud to receive this recognition that we are doing our small part to care for the environment and communities we serve.”
