St. Rita’s achieves Magnet redesignation

LIMA — Mercy Health-St. Rita’s achieved its second Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

The ANCC Magnet program recognizes hospitals for superior nursing care. Only 603 hospitals in the U.S. currently claim Magnet status, which must be renewed by the ANCC every four years.

The ANCC audited St. Rita’s in March when it met with 350 nurses, interdisciplinary team members and community members from St. Rita’s.

“We are so proud of our nursing team at St. Rita’s for again achieving the highest national honor for nursing excellence in the country,” Ronda Lehman, president of Mercy Health-Lima market, said in a press release Thursday. “Our nurses are an essential part of our success as an organization and we commend them for their commitment to quality patient care, while furthering our mission.”
