Local organizations receive anti-litter grants

COLUMBUS — The Ohio EPA awarded grants totaling $1.7 million to recycling and litter prevention in Northwest Ohio, with several nearby nonprofit organizations among the recipients.

An announcement Wednesday included the following amounts: $29,529 for the Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution, $58,044 for Bluffton Schools, $8940 for Leipsic Schools, $8836 for the Village of Bluffton, $60,263 for Auglaize County Solid Waste Management District and $6806 for Mercer County Solid Waste.

Money for Auglaize County will go toward a material recovery facility.

Money for Bluffton schools and Allen Oakwood will go toward recycling equipment.

Money for Leipsic schools, Bluffton and Mercer County will go toward water bottle refilling stations.

The state is issuing more than $3.8 million to 159 recipients across the state for litter prevention programs.
