LIMA — The American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to help install free smoke alarms for local families during a “Sound the Alarm” home fire safety event in Lima on Saturday, May 18. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
People interested in volunteering for the event may register at rdcrss.org/442qbvO. No prior experience is needed.
Volunteers will meet on May 18 at the American Red Cross office, located at 610 S. Collett St., Lima. Training will be provided before volunteer teams, accompanied by members of the Red Cross and partners, visit homes to install smoke alarms and share fire safety information with residents.
Persons in need of a smoke alarm can visit redcross.org/INHomeFire to schedule an appointment for a free smoke alarm installation year-round.
