LIMA — Mercy Health-St. Rita’s is celebrating Earth Day on April 22 by sharing its own environmental health and sustainability efforts.
Among the medical center’s efforts are the elimination of Styrofoam containers, a reduction in cardboard packaging, one million pounds in recycling for 2023, repurposing sterile “blue wrap” and hard plastics for the humane society and updated energy efficiency.
Mercy Health said the efforts are part of a drive to address social determinants of health in the community and be good stewards of resources.
