King introduces healthcare legislation

COLUMBUS — State Representative Angie King (R-Celina) announced on April 3 the Health Care Sharing Ministries Freedom to Share Act.

The legislation, designed to protect health care sharing ministries in the state of Ohio, would recognize the faith-based alternatives to health insurance as religious charities instead of insurance companies.

The bill has been put into law by 33 other states and allows the Attorney General to regulate them instead of the Department of Insurance.

The Affordable Care Act also recognizes HCSMs.

The legislation will next be assigned to a house committee.
