Lima Senior students claim top roles in youth assembly

LIMA — Lima Senior High School’s Christian Ackerman and Davyon Williamson will serve as officers at next year’s Ohio YMCA Youth and Government High School State Assembly.

This is the eighth consecutive year Lima Senior students have been elected to state offices through the model government youth program, according to a press release Monday.

Ackerman was elected chief justice and Williamson elected speaker of the House at the closing youth assembly Saturday. Both students are currently juniors at Lima Senior.

Fellow Lima Senior student Nicolas Guthrie earned an award for writing the best bill.

Guthrie is joined by his peers Alyssa Guthrie, Lily Capuchino, Gracie Slone, Abagail Antus, Rachel Fronzaglia, Azure Fish and James Brown in authoring legislation adopted by the youth assembly this session, while outgoing youth assembly Senate president and Lima Senior student Chase Hipsher was invited to attend the national assembly this summer.
