Lima Civil Service Committee approves changes

LIMA — Anyone who wants to become a police chief in the city of Lima may not have to meet requirements more stringent than what the state asks.

The Lima Civil Service Committee passed measures to amend the police chief promotional exam in a meeting Monday night.

Any officer looking to get promoted to the position of chief now only needs to serve one year, instead of two, as the revised code advises.

The measure will go to council for approval next.
