WOCAP accepting weatherization applications in Auglaize, Mercer

WAPAKONETA — Auglaize and Mercer County residents who live at or below 200% of the federal poverty level may be eligible for the West Ohio and Miami Valley Community Action Partnership’s weatherization assistance program, which helps lower-income households reduce energy costs.

Free services include health and safety testing and inspections, heating system repairs and replacements, reduction of air leakage from major sources like chimneys and walls, and insulation installation, according to a press release.

Residents approved for the program will receive a home inspection to determine which services will be most cost effective.

Renters must have property owner approval to participate.

Applicants should bring copies of their most recent utility bills, a list of all household members including dates of birth and social security numbers, proof of income for past 90 days for all household members (some income types require 12 months of verification), proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency for all household members and proof of ownership, if applicable.
