St. Paul offers ‘We Are A.M.E.’ Black history display

LIMA — St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church offers the community a chance to see its annual Black History Month display, “We Are A.M.E.,” in February following its 10 a.m. Sunday service at the church, 1103 W. Spring St., Lima.

The large display focuses on A.M.E.’s impact on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, as well as seminaries. It includes displays on Allen University, Morris Brown College, Paul Quinn College, Shorter College, Edward Waters University and Wilberforce University.

The displays were researched and created by committee members Joanne Baker, Corine Brown, Mildred Jackson, Arthur Pugh, Linda Pugh and Evelyn Smith, with the group chaired by Charles Brown.

The group will also offer its Black History Box Lunch event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23. The box lunch price is $12 at the church, led by the pastor, the Rev. Tracy Cross.
