Free CNC classes for youth at Rhodes State

LIMA — Rhodes State College will offer free CNC-related youth programs thanks to a grant from the Gene Haas Foundation.

Programs include:

Command machines to laser engrave: 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Feb. 24, during which students will learn how to use Mastercam CAM software, how to generate CNC code and how to use tools common in manufacturing of machining metal or plastic parts.

Robotics and autonomous systems: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 10-14. The introduction to robotics summer camp includes special visits to an Ohio test facility for automated and connected vehicles and GROB Systems.

Advanced robotics: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 10-14. The advanced course prepares students for the FANUC certification exam and includes tours of local manufacturing facilities.
