Bluffton American Legion to observe sacrifice of chaplains

BLUFFTON — The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 plans to observe the sacrifice of four men who served as armed forces chaplains. According to a recent press release, the men served in World War II. The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 4 at St. Mary’s Church, 160 N. Spring St. in Bluffton.

The release also states the men are being honored for providing life belts to servicemen aboard the troop transport after it was torpedoed on Feb. 3, 1943, saving over 200 lives.
