Mercer County lands public safety grant funds

CELINA — The Mercer County Sheriffs Office has been awarded grant funds in excess of $48,000 from the Ohio Department of Public Safety to assist deputies in targeting problem areas while on patrol.

According to Sheriff Jeff Grey the grant is broken into two areas. The first segment, for $23,365.58, will focus on looking for subjects driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol within the county.

The second part of the grant, valued at $24,865.58, “allows us to have our deputies focus on driving laws and ensure all motorists are safe while on the roads of Mercer County,” Grey said.
