Wake, Rattle & Roll
7:30 a.m. Friday at the Allen County Fairgrounds
Join the Lima Chamber of Commerce and more than 100 other business leaders at this monthly breakfast meeting at the Allen County Fairgrounds, 2750 Harding Highway, Lima. The topic of discussion will be agriculture. The cost of the event is $5 for members and $7 for future members; breakfast is provided by the Ohio Farm Bureau. No advance registration is necessary.
Mobile Health Clinic
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bluffton Public Library
The clinic, at 145 S. Main St. in Bluffton, will include free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening) and osteoporosis. All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program.
Lima Astronomical Society Summer Viewing Program
8 p.m. Friday at Schoonover Observatory
People of all ages are welcome to see a close-up view of the beauty of the night sky. There will be discussions about astronomy and space; presentations; learning about the constellations and observing through the primary telescope in the observatory dome. Weather permitting, the society views the planets, neulae, star clusters and galaxies.
OTHER EVENTS
• Rummage and Bake Sale: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship of Lima at 875 W. Market St., Lima. The event will benefit a new handicapped bathroom at the Fellowship and there will be local singers and musicians playing from 1-3 p.m. for National Music on the Porch Day.
• Poker Run: 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lima Harley-Davidson at 3255 Fort Shawnee Industrial Drive in Lima. The first bike goes out at 11 a.m.; the last bike will be in at 2 p.m. Cars and trucks are welcome. The cost is $20 per vehicle.
• Teachers Appreciation Banquet: 5:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday at Howard Johnson by Wyndham, 1920 Roschman Ave., Lima. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Toni Sturdivant. Entertainment includes music by Stedic. There will be an awards ceremony to acknowlegde the achievements and contributions of teachers in the Lima community.
