Ottawa man, passenger injured in Putnam County crash Saturday morning

PUTNAM COUNTY —An Ottawa man was hospitalized early Saturday morning after his vehicle struck a tree outside the village of Dupont.

According to a press release from the Putnam County Sheriff’s office, 28-year-old Nicholas Manning was traveling westbound on Road I-18 around when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a tree head-on.

Both Manning and a passenger were both transported by Putnam County EMS to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s in Lima.

The crash remains under investigation, although alcohol is suspected to be a factor.
