Board approves drop-box for primary election

LIMA — The Allen County Board of Elections has approved a 24-hour drop box for the primary election. The drop box will be monitored 24/7 with a surveillance camera. Board of Elections Chairman Keith Cheney weighed in.

“There was a piece of legislation followed by another piece of legislation to determine if counties were going to have them or not have them then they could be moved inside or outside,” said Cheney. “This board evaluated all of the options.”

The board decided to place the box outside of the Board of Elections for community members who have completed absentee ballots. The camera will be monitored by the county.
