Lima man gets 4 years probation, jail for child porn

LIMA — A Lima man was sentenced on Thursday to four years of community control and 60 days in jail for viewing child pornography online.

David Wicker, 61, was convicted on two counts of fourth-degree felony pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and three counts of fifth-degree felony illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material.

Wicker said that he was abusing alcohol at the time, after he dealt with significant health issues — one of which put him in a coma. He said after he quit drinking alcohol he started viewing the images online.

“In my right state of mind, nothing like this would’ve happened,” Wicker told Allen County Common Pleas Court Judge Jeffrey Reed.

Reed said the photos were of both naked and clothed minors. He said only one of the children was local — in a clothed photo.

Allen County Prosecutor Destiny Caldwell said after Google shut down Wicker’s account due to the nature of his web history, he obtained a new account and resumed his activities.

Reed ordered Wicker complete mental health court and abstain from all forms of pornography. His probation officer will have the authority to search his devices.

Wicker will receive 25 days of credit toward his jail sentence. He is ordered to pay court costs.
