Governor DeWine awards $5 million for justice assistance

ALLEN COUNTY — Governor Mike DeWine plans to allocate around $5 million for Justice Assistance grants in Ohio. The grants funded through the Ohio Department of Public Safety’s Office of Criminal Justice Services can be used for assistance, strategic planning, equipment and research.

Allen and Auglaize were included in the 57 counties that were awarded the assistance.

Allen County was awarded $80,344.75 for projects in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of West Central Ohio and the Allen County Sheriff’s Office.

Auglaize County was awarded $8,247.50 for projects in the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office.

“Local communities all have varying needs when it comes to combatting crime and these grants are tailored to support crime prevention initiatives that will make the most difference in each community,” said DeWine in a recent press release.
