LIMA — People in Lima looking to save money on their wireless bills by going with a prepaid plan rather than committing to a cell phone contract now have a new option, with Metro by T-Mobile opening its first retail location in the city.
Located at 1759 N. Union St. in Northland Plaza, Metro by T-Mobile offers cell phones and wireless plans using the T-Mobile network at an affordable price, which is one of the biggest draws for customers, according to Metro’s Aaliyah White.
“We also have some of the largest, fastest 5G-network phones for free, if you qualify,” she said.
Having a 5G wireless network available can create a much smoother experience for the user, providing faster download speeds and a more stable phone connection.
“You can go into a rural area here around Lima and still have connection and still receive text messages,” White said. “Now that I have Metro, I’m good everywhere I go. And I travel a lot of places. I’ve been to places like Vegas and Miami and it worked there, too.”
While prepaid wireless companies can often be seen as a more budget-centered option for cell phone customers, choosing a prepaid company does not necessarily mean that people have to forego higher-end, “flagship” smartphones, according to White. While Metro by T-Mobile does offer lower-cost phones for purchase, which allows a customer to buy the phone in its entirety and not be subject to lease agreements with monthly payments, customers can still take advantage of Metro’s service while still enjoying premium devices.
“We don’t have it here in store now, but we also offer the iPhone 14, if that’s what you’re looking for,” White said.
Other services offered by Metro by T-Mobile include home wireless service and international call, text and data. Plans can range from $40 per month to $60 per month, including taxes and fees. The $60 plan also includes an Amazon Prime membership, and multi-line discounts are available for customers that want to bundle multiple cell phone lines under one plan.
Metro by T-Mobile is open every day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. except for Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. To learn more, call the store at 567-371-3024.
