Midwest Electric donates to community causes

ST. MARYS, OH — Midwest Electric recently donated $14,950 to west central Ohio charities and community projects through the cooperative’s Community Connection Fund.

Thanks to the 89% of members who round up their electric bill and donate to this fund, Midwest Electric has provided $1,272,194 to 1,062 local charitable causes since 1998.

Auglaize County Historical Society received $750 to purchase QR code technology. Wapakoneta Fire and EMS were given $1250 to buy a motor for their water rescue boat. Children’s Hometown Holiday was given $1,000 to help fund a special weekend for children in downtown Wapakoneta. Mercy Unlimited received $500 to supply weekend meals for at-risk students. Andrew’s Hope of Allen County received $1,250 to purchase new beds and matresses for the women’s recovery home. The Lima Symphony Orchestra received $1,200 to support the Children’s Concert. Miracle Meal was given $1,000 to purchase necessary items for a meal served at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds. The Delphos Canal Commission received $1,000 to purchase a new high efficiency boiler to heat their buildings.

The Midwest Electric Community Connection Fund is a voluntary charitable program. Participating monthly members round up their electric bills to the nearest dollar. The additional monies are deposited in the fund.
