ODA spraying for spongy moth in Delphos, Columbus Grove

DELPHOS — Delphos and Columbus Grove will receive aerial treatments from the Ohio Department of Agriculture this month to control populations of the Spongy Moth.

Weather permitting, treatments will occur in these areas between June 16 and June 21. Treatments will be administered using a low-flying yellow aircraft approximately 100 feet above the tree tops.

ODA will use a single application of the product SPLAT GM-O, which does not kill the moth, but rather disrupts its mating process. SPLAT is organic and biodegradable, and it is not harmful to humans or animals. If it comes in contact with skin, simply wash the affected area with soap and water. Clothing can be cleaned with laundry detergent and hot water.

When the project begins, daily updates on treatment progress across the state will be available at https://bit.ly/3ttZWxc or by calling 614-387-0907 or 614-728-6400.
