Mercy Health-St. Ritas awards scholarships

LIMA — Area high school seniors are recipients of a $1,500 Mercy Health–St. Rita’s Scholarship. Over 150 applicants across 14 counties applied to receive one of these awards.

Students submitted applications for the scholarships and answered the question, “Why do you believe this is what you were meant to do.”

“Each student had a personal story to share. Some had been impacted by someone who works in healthcare, while others may have gone through a health situation and saw firsthand why they wanted to give back. Every story showed empathy, and that’s significant. In healthcare, academics are important, but having the ability to relate to people and provide exceptional service is critical as well,” Keehn said.

Mercy Health St. Rita’s Scholarship Recipients for 2022 are Madison Zimmerly, Columbus Grove High School; Chloe Schroeder, Ottawa-Glandorf High School; Alec Spangler, Waynesfield-Goshen High School; Lauren Heebsh, Ottawa-Glandorf High School; Savannah Spain, Waynesfield-Goshen High School; Dalton Hahn, Lima Senior High School; Carlie VanMeter, Lima Central Catholic High School; Kate Laukhuf, Wayne Trace High School; Abrey Brinkman, Celina High School; Nick Wurst, Fort Jennings High School; Makenna Borchers, Russia High School; Brooklyn Laukhuf, Van Wert High School; Elsbeth Nelson, Lima Senior High School; and Jamin Gahdhi, Bath High School.
