Primary election still on today, some races absent from ballot

LIMA — Ohio voters will go to the polls today for the state’s regular May primary, but the ballots will be a little smaller than usual.

Statewide races, including the race for governor and all statewide offices, will be on the ballot, as will the races for the U.S. House of Representatives. Any local issues and levies will be on the ballot, and county-level offices will remain, as well.

However, with the Ohio redistricting process still unresolved, all statehouse races, as well as the races for the Republican and Democrat State Central Committees, will be absent from today’s ballot. According to the Allen County Board of Elections website, a second primary is currently scheduled for Aug. 2. The notice also reads, “The content of this notice may change if a court order or legislative act requires a primary election for the General Assembly and State Central Committee in August.”
