DELPHOS — Legendary baseball player Jose Rijo was signing baseball bats, gloves, t-shirts, hats, and more for Cincinnati Reds fans Sunday at TriCounty Accounting & Tax in Delphos.
This is his third time in the area.
“I have a lot of friends here,” Rijo said.
Reflecting on his baseball career, Rijo said it has meant “basically everything” to him. And he said he is “very proud of his great relationship with the Cincinnati fans.”
Rijo, a pitcher, played for the Reds from 1988 to 1995 and from 2001 to 2002. He was part of the 1990 Reds team that won the World Series. Over his career, he compiled a 116-91 win-loss record with a 3.24 ERA. In 2005, Rijo was elected to the Cincinnati Reds Hall of fame.
Also at the event was Hal McCoy, longtime sportswriter for the Dayton Daily News, and author of “The Real McCoy: My Half Century with the Cincinnati Reds.”
