Piles of snow fill parking lots around Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND, Ohio — If you’ve been anywhere near a shopping center or mall this weekend, I’m sure you’ve seen the piles of snow everywhere.

Crews were out at the malls and shopping centers everywhere from Avon to Mayfield Heights, and places in-between, trying to remove the tons of snow left behind by Winter Storm Landon on Thursday and Friday. Snowfall totals in many areas of Northeast Ohio were more than 12 inches.

Everything from truck plows pushing snow to the edges of the parking lots, to giant front-loaders clearing piles and dumping them into dump trucks could be seen keeping busy as cars drove between the massive piles in the lots.

With temperatures predicted to only reach the mid-30s the next couple of days, the piles aren’t going to melt very quickly, although they’ll get some help as the black asphalt lots warm up when the sun is out.
