Zimmerman to seek re-election to appellate court

LIMA — Third District Court of Appeals Judge William R. Zimmerman said Monday he will seek re-election in 2022.

Zimmerman, 68, was first elected to the Court of Appeals in 2016 and is seeking a second term. Prior to his election he served for eight years as a juvenile/probate judge in Shelby County Common Pleas Court. He also was a faculty member of the Ohio Judicial College for five years, where he assisted in the teaching and training of new juvenile court and probate court judges in Ohio.

“It has been an honor to be an appellate judge in northwest Ohio. I have been fortunate to work with excellent judges and a very professional staff,” Zimmerman said in announcing his re-election bid. He plans to run in a Republican primary.

A 1979 graduate of Ohio Northern Law School, Zimmerman and his wife, Deb, reside in Sidney and enjoy spending time with their four children and 12 grandchildren.

The Third District Court of Appeals is the largest geographic appellate district in Ohio, encompassing 17 counties: Allen, Auglaize, Crawford, Defiance, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Logan, Marion, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Seneca, Shelby, Union, Van Wert and Wyandot.
