Parked cars hinder Lima’s road cleanup

LIMA — Lima’s roads should all be plowed after Monday’s heavy snowfall, but city officials said some neighborhoods may still need to move cars off the road to do a better job.

Warner Roach, of Lima’s streets department, said his office received many calls as the city didn’t get to neighborhoods quickly enough. He noted crews focused on major arteries starting at 3 p.m. Monday, and at 7 a.m. Tuesday they switched to working on neighborhoods, getting calls when individual neighborhoods weren’t plowed quickly enough. Crews used second and third shifts Tuesday to hit the remaining neighborhoods.

Some cars still remain parked in the same spots and should be moved so plows can finish their work. They could face a possible fine if they’re not moved.

With more snow expected Thursday, Roach asked drivers to park in driveways if possible and to obey the even/odd parking directions on streets, where you’re asked to park on the side of the street with even-numbered houses on even-numbered days and vice versa on odd-numbered days.
