UNIOPOLIS — The Auglaize County Historical Society has been approved for funding for a permanent marker honoring what is traditionally known as Uniopolis Town Hall in the National Register of Historic Places.
The project was undertaken in cooperation with the building’s current owner, the Uniopolis Historical Society, which uses the building as its museum.
The structure has been included in the National Register since 1994, but no sign has ever indicated its status. No date has been set for the marker’s arrival or installation.
“The Uniopolis Historical Society is thrilled to receive the marker,” said Society President Marilyn Shaw. “The community will become aware of the historical significance of the building. The Uniopolis Historical Society would also like to thank the Auglaize Historical Society for its cooperation in completing the application process to receive the marker. “
