Elida man charged with two counts of rape

LIMA — An Elida man was arraigned Monday in Allen County Common Pleas Court after a recent session of the grand jury charged him with two counts of rape.

Yosmer Camejo, 38, entered pleas of not guilty to the charges during his court appearance.

According to court documents, Allen County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence on Elijah Parkway on June 4 to speak with the alleged victim, who told investigators she lived on Elida Road with three males, including Camejo, who had moved in two days earlier.

The woman said that on the evening of June 3 and morning of June 4, all four people were at the residence, and Camejo made multiple sexual comments toward her.

During the night, she said, he entered the bedroom she shared with a male member of the home and exposed his penis to both of them, then began to kiss her neck and rub her vaginal area outside her clothing. The alleged victim said she told Camejo to stop, which he did not. The woman’s roommate confirmed her statement to deputies.

The woman then called a cab and, while walking outside, Camejo allegedly grabbed her, pulled down her pants, performed oral sex and had sexual intercourse with her, according to court documents. She was later taken to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center, and a sexual assault kit was performed.

Camejo was interviewed at the sheriff’s office and said the alleged victim — whom he described as a former stripper — had been flirting with him throughout the night, which led to them having consensual sex.
