LIMA — Severe weather moved through the area late Wednesday afternoon, prompting the National Weather Service to issue severe thunderstorm warnings for several area counties.
At 6 p.m., the Bath Township Fire Department was called out to Bath High School just before 6 p.m. Wednesday to investigate smoke in the boiler room. It was discovered that lightning apparently struck some equipment and damaged a couple of pumps. No one was hurt, and firefighters used a fan to clear the smoke.
Law enforcement agencies reported a few tree limbs and utility lines down in Auglaize, Allen and Putnam counties. They knew of no major damage to structures, and there were no injuries.
