WAYNESFIELD — Tom Reese, of Waynesfield, owned a Chevy Impala when he was a teenager. That might be one of the reasons he bought this beauty.
“I have other cars too, a Ford Model A and two Model T’s. People like this one, as there aren’t a lot of them,” Reese said.
This was the first year, 1958, that Chevy produced the Impala. It was introduced as the top of the line Bel Air, known as the Bel Air Impala. It became Chevy’s most popular full-size car and propelled Chevrolet to the No. 1 spot in 1958. It was distinguished by the fact that it had three symmetrical taillights. No other Chevy carried that trademark.
Reese enjoys showing his car off at car shows, such as the Westgate Charity Car Show. He also enjoys staging the interior for folks to see.
“It’s so roomy, and no seatbelts!” Reese said.
