LIMA — A second round of bids has saved the city $1.3 million for the Simmons Field water overflow tank. The final cost is $36.5 million.
The tank measuring 200 by 400 by 25 feet will be able to hold 13 million gallons of water in order to reduce the number of sewage overflows flooding into the Ottawa River to five or below as required by the EPA.
The underground tank will be constructed on Collett Street south of the Ottawa River. The only visible part of the tank will be a pump station and its associated piping.
