Lima Police officer, suspect injured in downtown incident

LIMA — Little information was available Tuesday evening surrounding an incident that started in downtown Lima late Tuesday afternoon and left two persons, including a Lima Police officer, with unspecified injuries.

According to a police department spokesman, an officer went to The Corner Grocery, 500 N. Elizabeth St., shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant to an unnamed individual. The suspect put up resistance against the officer and attempted to flee before falling and injuring himself. Both the suspect and the police officer were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The names of the individuals involved were not released pending further investigation.
